OR Service Coordinator - F/T Day

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct specialty services within their service lines by establishing and preparing to deliver unique services in surgical care, including planning for and oversight of training, supplies, equipment, and instrumentation.
• Evaluate service needs, care delivery related to quality, safety, and efficiency of care for the surgical patient.
• Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, physicians, and physician offices.
• Assist with cost-saving initiatives, working with leadership and the Business Manager for OR.
• Ensure adherence to the sterilization process; work with SPD to obtain recommended policies and parameters for effective sterilization of equipment and instrumentation.
• Assist with in-service and training for staff on specialty-related equipment and instrumentation; provide ongoing review of related topics to personnel at all levels.
• Act as a preceptor for new staff, working closely with the OR Educator.
• Coordinate pre-procedure and post-procedure phone calls, and data collection for outcomes studies/PI projects.
• Delegate work assignments to appropriate team members to ensure quick, safe room turnovers, equipment preparation, and patient transport/monitoring.
• Cover any specialty need as it arises, including providing relief in case of staffing shortages.
• Ensure all supplies and equipment are available by making rounds and attending Scheduling Huddle to coordinate and avoid equipment conflicts.
• Verify all equipment is available, functioning, and has been checked by Bio-med if necessary.

Requirements

• Three to five (3-5) years of operating room/surgical experience.
• Must have Robotic experience.
• Experience in General Surgery, GYN, and Urology.
• Ability to work as part of a cohesive leadership team.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and delegation skills.
• Familiarity with operating room equipment and instruments, medical terminology, and supply management experience.
• Knowledge of computer systems used in the operating room and materials management.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
• Preferred: Two (2) years of surgical experience in a clinical specialty service line.
• Preferred: Leadership oversight experience.
• Preferred: Experience with mentorship, education, and training of staff nurses.
• Preferred: BSN degree.
• Preferred: Certified Nurse Operating Room within one year.

Pay

Minimum rate of $107,952.00 annually. The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations.
