OR RN PRN Days- Float Pool

Various locations – Phoenix, AZ. PRN, Days. Network Float Pool – float to 3+ campuses with flexible/open scheduling. Minimum 2 years' experience in an OR setting required.

Responsibilities

• Practice guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics.
• Record patients' medical history and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results; operate medical equipment; administer treatment and medications; assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
• Establish or contribute to care plans, including administering medication, managing IV lines, administering therapies, observing and recording patient conditions, and consulting with physicians.
• Teach patients and families about managing illnesses or injuries, post-treatment and home care needs, diet, nutrition, exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and therapy.
• Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides; delegate tasks appropriately.
• Precept new hire staff and students; assist in completing competency skills.
• Enhance knowledge in nursing management and patient care; improve patient experience and clinical outcomes.
• Collect and analyze health data systematically; prioritize based on patient needs and involve family in care.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise patient care plans that are family-centered, developmentally and age-appropriate, and culturally relevant.
• Identify expected outcomes and implement interventions; initiate treatments and emergency measures based on standing orders and policies.
• Provide nursing care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs using a family-centered approach.
• Evaluate patient progress and document observations, interventions, and monitoring data.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care plans to ensure cost-effective, high-quality healthcare.
• Assess and enhance one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional standards and regulations.
• Integrate ethical principles and cultural/diversity needs into practice.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
• Develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care; participate in and apply evidence-based research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
• Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care.
• All RNs with direct responsibility for stroke patients must have knowledge of:
  • Stroke symptoms and warning signs
  • Protocols and pathways for stroke patient identification, evaluation, and management
  • NIHSS Stroke Alert activation and protocol
  • Stroke quality indicators
  • Available stroke patient education materials and community resources
  • Stroke Center website resources

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred. All Diploma and ADN hires must complete BSN within 60 months of hire date OR have 10 years of Registered Nurse experience (direct or indirect).
• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited NLN/CCNE institution – Required.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• More than 10 months of med-surg or acute specialty setting experience – Required.
• 1 year of RN experience for all Float Positions – Required.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Arizona or compact state – Required upon hire.
• Unit-specific certification as required by specialty area – Required.
• National certification for unit-specific patient population – Preferred.
