OR Nurse Part-time/PRN

About the Role

The Surgery Center of Fairbanks (SCF) is a nationally recognized, multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center serving patients throughout interior Alaska. We offer flexible 8-hour shifts (Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) with no nights, weekends, or call requirements. Positions are available for part-time or PRN hours.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a team member in the total perioperative process.
• Organize time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective case management.
• Supervise and direct patient care in a single operating room.
• Delegate activities appropriate to staff abilities while ensuring cost containment.
• Assist with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock levels.
• Address patient needs during admission, transport, and intraoperative phases.
• Identify patients and confirm surgical interventions according to policy.
• Review medical records to plan care with the healthcare team.
• Provide comfort, reassurance, and privacy to patients while explaining procedures.
• Perform the circulating nurse’s role, including preparing the operating room and assembling equipment.
• Assist with patient positioning, anesthesia support, and aseptic technique compliance.
• Monitor the physical environment and ensure continuity of care through communication and documentation.
• Respond promptly to patient and physician needs, accurately interpret orders, and maintain records.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED certificate.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Active Alaska RN license.
• One or more years of operating room experience.
• CPR certification.
• Strong leadership qualities and ethical character.
• Excellent written, interpersonal, and telephone communication skills in American English.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (8-hour shifts). No nights, weekends, or call required.
