The OR Materials Specialist is responsible for assuring appropriate OR inventory meets par level requirements. They improve flow and standardize OR inventory procedures to ensure consistency and control of materials, and work with the auto replenishment system to ensure sufficient levels of inventory are maintained. They lead the Inpatient Perioperative Gainsharing Program, Green Projects, and Reprocessing initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and maintains the efficient ordering and distribution of OR inventory to ensure par levels are met.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and maintains perioperative inventory standardization procedures to improve flow and for consistency and control of OR materials.
  • Collaborates with the team to develop and implement ideas for improved efficiencies and waste reduction/cost savings for the Inpatient Perioperative Gainsharing Program.
  • Promotes the gainsharing program with the OR team and actively solicits suggestions for improvement, reviews and implements approved ideas.
  • Tracks progress and performance and provides reports to management.
  • Serves as Sustainability champion for OR around waste reduction, energy reduction (LED surgical lights), supply reduction (OR Kit Reformulations), and leads other sustainability-related initiatives.
  • Works with multidisciplinary team to capture savings by utilizing reprocessed single-use medical devices (SUDs).
  • Determines reorder points and ensures that sufficient levels of inventory are maintained, while reducing waste, through the auto replenishment system.
  • Analyzes demand, trends, and forecasts and recommends adjustments accordingly.
  • Compiles reports on progress of inventory standardization and auto replenishment controls and related cost savings or expenditure; makes recommendations for improvement or change.
  • Provides accurate monthly data for gainsharing reporting and quarterly results.
  • Communicates gainsharing initiatives and quarterly gainsharing results to all team members.
  • Educates new team members on the Inpatient Perioperative Gainsharing Program.
  • Leads annual and purchasing requested inventory counts and ensures accuracy of counts.
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Five years of operating room supply, sterile supply, or business inventory experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree.

Pay

Minimum rate of $61,110.40 annually.
