Vision To Learn is the largest school-based vision care nonprofit in the country, addressing the critical need for vision care in underserved communities. We provide eye exams and glasses to students at no cost to families, helping children succeed in school and life. Founded in 2012, we’ve conducted over 3.8 million vision screenings, 800,000 eye exams, and distributed 650,000 pairs of prescription glasses.
About the role
Vision To Learn seeks compassionate, mission-driven optometrists to provide high-quality eye exams and deliver glasses to students in underserved communities. As part of a mobile clinical team, you’ll remove vision barriers that affect learning and long-term opportunities. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive vision evaluations, including checking visual acuity, assessing binocular vision, measuring intraocular pressure (IOP), examining pupils, performing full refractions, and prescribing appropriate corrections.
- Assess ocular health and prescribe vision devices, ensuring patients are tested on applicable equipment and instructed in proper use.
- Document patient diagnoses accurately in internal systems.
Requirements
- Active Pennsylvania Optometry License.
- Flexibility to commute throughout the greater Philadelphia area, including Philadelphia, Delaware, and Chester counties.
- Must pass a Department of Justice background check (LiveScan) and drug test.
- Proven track record of quality patient care with a positive, proactive attitude and dedication to the mission.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Optometry (Required).
- Optometry License (Required).
Clearance Requirements
As a direct healthcare provider, Vision To Learn requires employees to pass a Department of Justice background check/fingerprinting (LiveScan), child abuse history clearance, TB test, and drug test to ensure a safe work environment.
Pay
$85 per hour.
Schedule
- Up to 5 days per week.
- No federal holidays.
- No nights or weekends (with very select voluntary exceptions).
