Optometrist

About the role

The optometrist at Acuity Eyecare group will conduct comprehensive eye exams, establish long-term patient relationships, diagnose sight problems, prescribe glasses and contacts, and recommend treatments.

Responsibilities

• Conducting eye exams
• Establishing long term patient relationships through proper patient care and education
• Supporting practice growth by educating patients on eyecare
• Conducting verbal interviews with patients to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, reasons for their visit, and their visual wants and needs
• Performing vision tests and analyzing results
• Diagnosing sight problems, prescribing eyewear, and recommending treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation
• Providing pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery
• Evaluating patients for diseases like diabetes and referring them to other healthcare providers
• Promoting eye health by counseling patients on proper lens cleaning and wearing, and discussing the latest technologies

Requirements

• Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution
• Must have passed all optometric state boards
