This practice is part of TeamVision, a Management Service Organization within EssilorLuxottica, a global leader in ophthalmic lenses, frames, and sunglasses. Together, we provide operational excellence to eyecare professionals with the aim of being the leading eye care provider in our community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow.
  • Perform various tests to aid the optometrist with vision examinations, such as visual acuity measurements, depth and color perception tests, and retinal imaging.
  • Perform tests to aid the optometrist in accurate diagnosis and treatment within an appropriate time frame.
  • Review prescriptions and patient information carefully; identify special needs and consult with optometrists, opticians, or the practice manager when necessary.
  • Resolve situations involving dissatisfied patients quickly and effectively.
  • Perform work accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and patient volume.
  • Handle and file all patient records in an organized and efficient manner in accordance with practice standards and HIPAA.
  • Support contact lens exams and orders, including contact lens care, trial inventory, and patient orders.
  • Utilize appointment book/scheduling procedures and computer operations effectively.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system, inputting patient information accurately and creating/tendering sales transactions following operational processes.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all team members and patients.
  • Support compliance with visual merchandising in exam lanes, assessment rooms, and contact lens areas.
  • Adapt to various examination scenarios and maintain a personable demeanor with patients and staff.
  • Perform all pre-examination testing with accuracy and explain measurements to patients.
  • Responsible for maintenance and disinfection of equipment; provide clinical support to the optometrist as needed.
  • Work weekends and evenings to support business needs.
  • Adhere to attendance and daily timekeeping requirements, company policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain proper dress code consistently.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by the practice manager or business needs.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 2+ years’ experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of optical and medical terminology.
  • Understanding and utilization of optical equipment and diagnostic testing (e.g., pre-exam testing, visual acuity).
  • Coaching skills and strong communication/listening abilities.
  • Problem-solving and organization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assess priorities, address multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Knowledge of office environment and strong basic math skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare.
  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, and/or optical.
  • Optometric technician certification.
