Optometric Technician/Medical Assistant

About the role

As an Optometric Technician for MyEyeDr., you will provide direct support to our Doctors of Optometry by preparing patients for their visits, including preliminary testing and measurements. No optical experience is required; you will receive training and tools to learn the industry and help deliver best‑in‑class vision care. This role reports to the Office General Manager and directly supports the doctor(s). Some weekend and evening shifts are required.

Responsibilities

• Consult with patients, accurately document existing conditions and complaints, and chart medical history to prep for the optometrist exam.
• Maintain a smooth flow of patients to the doctor and additional office staff throughout appointments.
• Ensure patients are comfortable with office procedures they will experience during their visit.
• Learn to use all pre‑test equipment to perform a range of visual screenings for patients prior to seeing the doctor.
• Conduct contact‑lens training for applicable patients and perform other preliminary testing.
• Collaborate with doctor(s) and team members to provide a seamless patient experience.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED with the ability to understand and perform basic math.
• Personable, patient, and able to comfort patients during the screening process.
• Detail‑oriented and able to work closely with the optometrist.
• Willingness to learn about the industry, products, and services.
• Collaborative team player focused on delivering the best patient experience.
• Prior healthcare/medical/optical background preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
