Optics Engineer II
What's the Job?
Build and characterize complex, high precision optical sub-assemblies for advanced quantum computing systems
Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis on optical and opto-mechanical systems to support continuous improvement
Design, align, integrate, and test prototype and proof-of-concept systems involving lasers, optics, fibers, electronics, software, and mechanical assemblies
Document results and communicate findings to cross-functional teams to support production readiness
Collect, analyze, graph, interpret, and present data clearly and concisely to support engineering decisions
What's Needed?
- A bachelor’s degree in an optics-related field (e.g., optics, physics, electrical engineering) with at least 2 years of hands-on experience with optical systems
- Experience integrating optical subassemblies into higher-level systems and supporting reliable, long-term operation
- Hands-on experience aligning, integrating, and testing prototype systems involving lasers, optics, fibers, electronics, software, and mechanical assemblies
- Experience with optical frequency noise reduction using active optics and closed-loop techniques
- Proficiency in documenting procedures and test plans through work instructions or standard operating procedures
