About the role
MCR Health is seeking an Optical Technician/Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team in Bradenton, FL. This role supports our mission to provide "Exceptional Care to Everyone, Every Time" by delivering quality comprehensive eye care in a courteous, friendly, and professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Triage patients and document presenting problems accurately.
- Prepare patient charts for provider visits.
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment.
- Perform preliminary tests to assist the doctor with eye exams (e.g., visual acuity, extraocular movements, pupils, confrontation fields, intraocular pressure, contact lens insertion/removal, refraction, fundus photography, OCTs).
- Record exam findings and assist the doctor with procedures as needed.
- Perform additional testing as ordered by the doctor.
- Read and interpret spectacle and contact lens prescriptions.
- Fit and measure frames for proper sizing on patients.
- Track spectacle prescription orders and frame inventory.
- Measure pupillary distance (PDs) and perform lensometry.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 1 year of experience in an optometric, ophthalmic, or medical office preferred.
- Certification at one of the following levels is preferred: COA, COT, COMT, CPO, CPOA, or CPO.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Valid government-issued photo ID.
