About the Role
The Retail Sales Associate (also known as a Retail Optician) assists patients in selecting eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens coatings that best suit their needs. The role involves ensuring lab technicians have accurate measurements and prescription information, dispensing completed glasses, and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patients.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, and policies regarding payment, returns, and exchanges.
- Compute and process payment transactions and refunds using the in-house Point of Sale system.
- Process insurance claims efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge.
- Create and maintain patient files while adhering to company and HIPAA confidentiality policies.
- Assess and interpret patient needs based on prescription requirements, facial features, lifestyle, and occupation to suggest appropriate products (frames, lens types, coatings).
- Take necessary measurements, such as pupillary distance.
- Prepare work orders for the lab, ensuring all pertinent information is included (patient details, prescription, lens specifications, measurements, special tinting/coating).
- Pull correct lenses according to work order specifications.
- Inspect the final product for accuracy and adjust completed glasses to fit the patient using tools like pliers, hands, and heat.
- Adjust or repair damaged frames, replace nose pads, and fix missing screws.
- Price, stock, and straighten merchandise.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience working in retail, customer service, or sales.
- Experience in the optical industry is preferred but not required; training is available.
