About the role
As a Retail Sales Associate (Retail Optician), you’ll help patients select eyeglass frames, lenses, and coatings tailored to their needs. You’ll ensure lab technicians receive accurate measurements and prescription details, then dispense the completed glasses. Earning potential is competitive, including base pay and incentives.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patients.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, and store policies (payments, returns, exchanges).
- Process transactions and refunds using the in-house Point of Sale system.
- Process insurance claims efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge.
- Create and manage patient files in compliance with company and HIPAA confidentiality policies.
- Assess and interpret patient needs based on prescription, facial features, lifestyle, and occupation; recommend suitable frames, lenses, and coatings.
- Take measurements (e.g., pupillary distance).
- Prepare detailed lab work orders (patient info, prescription, lens specifications, measurements, special coatings/tints).
- Pull correct lenses per work order specifications.
- Inspect final products for accuracy; adjust glasses for fit using tools (pliers, heat) as needed.
- Perform frame adjustments and repairs (replace nose pads, screws, etc.).
- Price, stock, and organize merchandise.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in retail, customer service, or sales.
- Optical industry experience preferred but not required—training provided.
