About the role

An Optical/Laser Cleaning Technician will work under moderate supervision to clean and prepare various optical products in an ISO-5 Cleanroom environment. The role involves polishing, fixture exchanges, cleaning, and other preparation tasks with various materials, following documentation and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets operation sheets, drawings, diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and written instructions.
  • Inspects in-process assemblies consistently under a microscope.
  • Cleans hardware of various materials using a multitude of solvents.
  • Works under microscopes for extended periods to visually clean, test, and calibrate optical products and components.
  • Maintains logbooks, tolerance sheets, work orders, and other required documentation.
  • Actively communicates with engineers, managers, and other technicians on process status, issues, and suggestions.
  • Performs other tasks directed by management to meet company objectives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience with optical/laser precision parts assembly methods.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools, microscopes, vacuum systems, assembly equipment, electronic equipment, and processing equipment (e.g., degreasers, ultrasonics, plasma cleaners).
  • Capable of working independently and within a cross-functional team of engineers and technicians on both production and R&D.
  • Detail-oriented with experience handling delicate parts, especially glass and wafers.
  • Hands-on experience with one of the following: lasers, mirrors/lenses/prisms, optical metrology, optical assembly, optical alignment, or inertial navigation systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with Standard Operating Procedures/work orders.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and up to 5 lbs. for extended periods.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Knowledge of parts inspection using high magnification microscopes.
  • Previous experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Previous experience in ISO9001/AS9100 certified manufacturing facilities preferred.
  • Previous experience working in cleanrooms (ISO Class 4 through Class 7) preferred.

Pay

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $25.00 - $38.00 hourly. Final offer may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal consistency.
