About the role
We are seeking a Principal Optical Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced optical systems for next-generation quantum computers.
Responsibilities
- Define optical system specifications
- Collaborate with physicists and engineering teams to develop system architectures
- Establish best practices for optical design, alignment, and assembly
- Provide hands-on leadership in optical assembly
- Mentor junior staff
- Contribute to technical documentation, proposals, and IP generation
Requirements
- Experience in designing high-numerical-aperture imaging systems, laser networks, and free-space optics
- Proficiency with ray-tracing software (e.g., Zemax) and 3D CAD tools
- Understanding of STOP analysis
- Degree in Optical Sciences or related fields
- 10+ years of optical design experience
- 7+ years of laboratory assembly experience
Preferred Skills
- Experience with quantum computing
- Experience with product deployment
