About the role
Lead the optics department in a cutting-edge AR technology startup, driving optical design, simulation, and validation for AR applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead optical design, simulation, and validation for AR applications.
- Drive project execution from concept to prototype, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
- Perform hands-on optical assembly, testing, and metrology.
- Develop scalable prototyping and manufacturing processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and delegate technical tasks.
Requirements
- 10+ years in optical design within AR/VR, aerospace, or complex imaging systems.
- Proficiency in Code V, Zemax, SolidWorks, and programming in Python or C++.
- Strong experience in optical R&D, metrology, manufacturing, and tolerancing.
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
- Hands-on experience with optical assembly, testing, and prototyping.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Full-time, in-person presence in Santa Monica.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in AR/VR hardware development or high-precision optical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical teams and work in fast-paced environments.
