Optical Consultant

About the role

Optical Consultants sell eyewear and accessories to patients, ensuring they are fitted with the right-size frames and lenses. They provide comprehensive recommendations and customer service to enhance patient satisfaction and repeat business.

Responsibilities

• Fit patients with appropriate frames and lenses based on prescriptions and lifestyle needs
• Provide detailed explanations of products and services to patients
• Develop and maintain a client base through excellent service and referrals
• Stay updated on industry products, manufacturer rebates, and lens/frame options
• Take and return patient calls, addressing order statuses and issues
• Retrieve and update patient charts and electronic health records
• Aid patients in choosing frames, lens types, and treatments
• Measure eyes and faces for proper fit, interpret prescriptions, and create work orders
• Inspect, adjust, and polish eyewear to ensure visual acuity, comfort, and quality
• Communicate with technicians and managers, providing additional information or updates
• Restock and organize store areas, maintaining cleanliness and appearance
• Answer patient inquiries about insurance, warranties, products, and services
• Sell and promote miscellaneous products like cleaners, contact lens supplies, sunglasses, and safety glasses

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• One year of experience as an Optician preferred
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred
• Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service and sales experience preferred
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Dependable and punctual
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for up to 8 hours per day
