About the role

South Georgia North Florida Eye Partners offers a variety of eye care services including detection and treatment of eye diseases and injuries, advanced procedures like LASIK and cataract surgeries, and an on-site Optical Shop with designer frames and sunglasses. We have locations in Valdosta, Tifton, and Douglas.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists
• Aiding patients in selecting frames based on prescription needs, fit, comfort, lifestyle, and style preferences
• Taking precise optical measurements, including pupillary distance (PD), segment height, multifocal alignment, bridge, and temple measurements
• Ensuring eyewear fits properly by performing frame adjustments for comfort, balance, and optimal optical alignment
• Entering eyewear and lens orders accurately into optical software and preparing orders for processing
• Submitting and tracking eyewear orders with in-house or external laboratory partners
• Inspecting completed eyewear for prescription accuracy, lens quality, and overall workmanship before dispensing
• Performing minor eyewear repairs and adjustments, including replacing screws, nose pads, and temples
• Instructing patients on the proper care, cleaning, maintenance, and handling of their eyewear
• Maintaining accurate patient records, order documentation, and related optical records
• Communicating order delays, remakes, backorders, and other issues to patients, laboratories, and team members as appropriate
• Affording inventory management, including organizing frames, lenses, parts, and optical supplies
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional optical dispensary
• Providing exceptional customer service while building patient confidence and satisfaction throughout the dispensing process
• Assisting with merchandising, frame displays, and product presentation to maintain an attractive retail environment
• Collaborating with providers and team members to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient patient care
• Complying with all company policies, HIPAA requirements, safety standards, and applicable regulatory guidelines
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years of eyecare experience
• Ability to demonstrate eye-hand coordination, manual/finger dexterity, agility, and color vision and depth perception with visual acuity correctable to 20/25 while fitting eyeglasses and contacts
• Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office & familiarity with EHR's; especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and a minimum typing speed of 30 AW PM

Preferred Skills

• 5 years of prior retail sales in optical or work in the healthcare industry
• ABO/NCLE Certification or the ability to become certified within 90 days of employment
• 4-year degree or advanced coursework and certifications
