OPS - Research Assistant

Anita Zucker Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Florida – part-time (20 hours/week), grant-funded, time-limited position.

About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, motivated, and enthusiastic Research Assistant to support a research project examining the effects of professional development on practitioners working with infants and toddlers receiving early intervention services. The role involves observing pre-recorded videos of home visits, coding specific behaviors using a structured observation system, and assisting with data processing and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Attend required trainings on video observation and observational coding.
• Learn and apply observational coding systems as directed in trainings.
• Watch and code pre-recorded home visit videos using a structured coding system.
• Maintain accuracy by applying observational coding techniques.
• Complete coding assignments within assigned timelines.
• Assist with collecting, organizing, processing, and managing coded video data.
• Transcribe and translate Spanish-language home visit videos.
• Edit and update related project documents.
• Attend project-related team meetings.
• Assist with other project- or Center-related activities as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet data quality and deadline standards.
• Fluent in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, special education, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience with observational coding, video coding, or behavioral data collection (preferred).
• Experience working with infants, toddlers, or young children with developmental delays (preferred).
• Familiarity with early intervention, early childhood, or special education settings (preferred).

Pay

$15.00 - $16.00/hr
