Specific Responsibilities
- Provides basic nursing services to students under the supervision of the Community Health Nursing Supervisor.
- Administers first aid, daily and emergency medications to students and staff as ordered by a physician.
- Performs intermittent clean catheterization, gastrostomy tube feeding, and monitors blood glucose.
- Organizes and assists with state-mandated health screenings such as hearing/vision, scoliosis, and BMI.
- Maintains a clean health unit and performs periodic inventory of medical supplies.
- Maintains accurate and timely records of all work performed.
- Assists the health screening team with scheduling and implementing health screenings for school district students.
- Collects and inputs screening data into HMS for upload by the School Health Program.
- Sorts and prepares mailings to parents/guardians of screened students, including notification letters.
- Attends School Health in-services and completes required training.
- Submits timesheets and mileage reports in a timely manner.
- Completes the Daily Report in a timely fashion.
Qualifications
- Florida RN license.
- Current, valid Driver’s license.
- Experience working in a pediatric medical setting preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
