Job Duties
Affords assistance with plant tissue preparation and quantification for analysis via PCR, qPCR, and sequencing for molecular diagnostics of citrus diseases.
Contributes to general laboratory maintenance by participating in tasks such as dishwashing and keeping the laboratory clean and organized.
Assists with general greenhouse duties as directed by the supervisor, which may include planting seeds, grafting, watering, de-suckering, thinning, transplanting, and other related tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of personal computer operations and software (Microsoft Office).
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Data management, data entry, clerical, and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently, compile written reports, and innovate in equipment and techniques.
- Ability to compile and organize data.
- Microscope usage and specimen sorting skills.
- Independence and ability to work in a greenhouse.
- Outdoor work capabilities, including lifting 50 lbs., bending repetitively, walking in various terrains, and working in inclement weather.
