Duties

  • Identify evidence-based or emerging best practices
  • Financial and contract grant management
  • Grant writing and development
  • Communicate with partners
  • Identify needs and gaps in services, make recommendations to ADHS leadership, and develop and maintain a repository of resources
  • Provide training and technical assistance to community partners, county public health departments, and other state agencies
  • Use and disseminate data and monitor and surveillance
  • Research and guide on existing and emerging policies and practices
  • Outreach to professional organizations and regulatory boards
  • Direct service presentations to communities, stakeholders, and policy makers

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of ADHS, Arizona Health Improvement Plan and the State Health Assessment
  • Principles, methods, and techniques of leadership and government administration
  • State laws and agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the provision of medical and public health services
  • Systems theory and consensus building models in developing cooperation and coordination among varied disciplines, agencies, policy-makers, and the community at large
  • Planning, program evaluation, and quality assurance techniques and methodology
  • Approaches to working with communities with cultural diversity, especially when working with rural, remote, and tribal communities
  • Grant and financial management
  • Approaches to addressing equity and disparities in program planning and implementation
  • Performance Management (PM) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices
  • Oral and written communication
  • Miscellaneous skills in math and basic accounting, writing grants, participating as an evaluator in procurement processes, understanding, interpreting, and following grant/funding contracts and requirements, developing and providing presentations to stakeholders, leadership, and community partners, organizing, managing, and balancing multiple large scale projects and initiatives at the same time, managing and navigating applicable software, databases, reporting platforms, and/or survey forms, completing literature reviews of best practices, evidence-based findings, and emerging strategies throughout public health systems, leading and working cooperatively with a diverse workforce, especially with rural, remote, and tribal community members, managing conflict and making sound decisions, communicating effectively both orally and in writing, managing time in a high performance environment with multiple large scale tasks, working independently, and in a team environment, being flexible with the changing needs of the position, providing guidance to partners on the implementation of activities, leading groups and facilitating meetings with successful outcomes, supporting a diverse multi-cultural workforce that reflects the community and promotes equal opportunity at all levels of public employment, and creating an inclusive work environment that enables all individuals to perform to their fullest potential free from discrimination.
