About the role
The Department of Ophthalmology at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center is seeking an Ophthalmologist specializing in corneal / refractive surgery. This position is responsible for direct patient care and supervision in three outpatient settings: the Main Campus, Richmond V.A. Medical Center, and suburban ASC locations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain high clinical and ethical standards
- Adhere to compliance measures
- Establish and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication between all staff disciplines
- Foster a high level of patient and staff satisfaction
- Residents and certified ophthalmic medical technicians assist with patient care and ancillary testing
Requirements
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology, with Corneal subspecialty training
- Eligibility for, or a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills required
- Demonstrate expertise working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Qualifications
- Must have completed residency in ophthalmology
- Must have completed subspecialty training in corneal surgery
- Must have a strong commitment to patient care, education, and research
