About the role
We're seeking an Ophthalmic Tester (Imaging Tech) who is passionate and empathetic to join our team as Ophthalmic Techs. Your responsibilities include gathering and documenting patient information, conducting eye tests, and assisting Ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye disorders.
Responsibilities
- Gather and document patient information and history
- Conduct routine and ancillary patient testing
- Measure intraocular pressure, perform ancillary tests, and transcribe physician's dictation
- Apply drops for anesthesia, dilation, or medication
- Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing
- Prepare and stock exam rooms, assist with exams, triage emergency cases, and prepare patient and procedure rooms
- Maintain confidentiality and professional demeanor
Requirements
- One-year certificate from college or technical school; minimum two years experience as an ophthalmic assistant or equivalent
- CPR certified
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Outgoing personality and ability to interact with patients daily
- Comfortable handling emergencies and responding to patient needs quickly
- Problem-solving skills and ability to maintain composure under stress
- Positive attitude and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changing situations
- Knowledge of ocular pharmacology (anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, etc.)
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 10 pounds
