Ophthalmic Technical Assistant - USFTGP Ophthalmology

Essential Functions

• Met with patients to discuss ocular medical history, chief complaint, current medications, allergies and family history to prepare the patient for the physician.
• Performs initial work up including visual testing, color vision testing, retinoscopy, and refraction for the physician to review and consider during visit.
• Performs various diagnostic tests and measurements including A-Scans, diagnostic ultrasounds, keratometry, lensometry, tonometry, and visual fields to support the physician's review.
• Reviews patient records for completeness to allow for a timely and efficient patient visit.
• Maintains supplies and equipment in examining rooms to allow for adequate patient care.
• Completes in basket messages to allow for timely communication to patients and providers.
• Maintains overall patient experience and safety, following all emergency clinical policies and protocols, to allow for optimal care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• 1 year experience as an Ophthalmic Tech
