About the role

University Retina is a full-service practice specializing in helping patients heal eyesight-robbing diseases of the retina, vitreous, and macula. Led by a team of board-certified ophthalmologists and retina specialists, the practice has locations in Oak Forest, Bedford Park, Lemont, Lombard, and Lincolnwood, Illinois. We are hiring an Ophthalmic Technician to support a high-volume retina practice focused on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document patient history.
  • Determine visual acuity.
  • Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician.
  • Perform office duties and clinical tasks, including entering data into EMR.
  • Provide patient services.
  • Maintain equipment and instruments.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school.
  • Customer service skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A degree of independent decision-making.
  • Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as needed.
  • Flexibility with traveling to various locations.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to seek instruction in areas where you are not knowledgeable.
  • Ability to recognize inconsistencies.

The Ophthalmic Technician/Medical Assistant role is more than a job—it is truly a career. In time, you may become a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), Ophthalmic Scribe Certified (OSC), or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT). We encourage and support these certifications and provide assistance with the certification process. Additional monetary incentives are awarded upon attainment. Pay

$20.00–$26.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
