Ophthalmic Scribe
About the role
At Sight360 we are seeking a detail‑oriented and compassionate Ophthalmic Scribe to support our physicians and help deliver an outstanding patient experience in a fast‑paced clinical environment. The scribe prepares patients and exam rooms, performs diagnostic testing, documents patient encounters in real time, and supports overall clinical flow and patient care. Travel between clinic locations and/or overtime may be required based on operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document ocular testing including refractions, lensometry, tonometry, visual fields, OCTs, topography, Amsler grids, muscle testing, pupil exams, and related diagnostics.
- Prepare patients for examination and assist with patient flow.
- Accurately scribe patient visits, treatment plans, and physician discussions.
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Prepare exam rooms, maintain sterile technique, and coordinate testing and surgical needs.
- Communicate physician instructions to patients and referring providers.
- Assist with patient calls, pharmacy requests, and general clinical support.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year experience working as an ophthalmic scribe.
- Ability to navigate EHR software systems.
- Working knowledge of ophthalmic and medication terminology, equipment, and CPT/ICD‑10 coding.
- Working knowledge of basic ocular anatomy.
- Certification preferred but not required.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
- Highly developed organizational skills; comfortable working under time‑sensitive deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word).
