About the role

The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic testing on patients such as fundus photography, OCTs, color vision testing, pachymetry, and visual fields. This position may also assist Ophthalmologists and Optometrists by performing ophthalmic clinical functions as necessary, including patient work-ups and administering eye medications. Travel between clinic locations and/or overtime may be required based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for opening and closing diagnostic area, maintaining equipment and rooms in working conditions.
  • Performing tests based on a physician's orders.
  • Perform visual field testing: Humphrey
  • Perform OCT testing: Heidelberg and Cirrus
  • Fundus Photography
  • External Photography
  • Corneal Topography: Atlas and Pentacam
  • Timely, accurately, and efficiently transferring test results into electronic medical records.
  • Update patient records using a high level of proficiency within the EMS or other related system.
  • Comply with all HIPAA regulations in all interactions with patient information.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year in Ophthalmology.
  • Certification preferred.

Skills

  • Superior interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to perform manifest refraction is preferred.

  • Attentive to detail and accuracy.
