Ophthalmic Assistant / Ophthalmic Technician - Eye Specialists

About the role

BayCare Clinic's mission is to provide measurably superior specialty medical services to our patients. BayCare Clinic Eye Specialists is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Assistant / Ophthalmic Technician to join our team in Manitowoc, WI.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the highest standard of care; assists Ophthalmologist/Optometrist with the treatment of patients and in efficiently moving patients in/out of exam areas.
• Affords assistance with surgery/procedures as directed by the Ophthalmologist/Optometrist.
• Has a working knowledge of the needs of the Ophthalmologist/Optometrist.
• Accurately records patient histories and documents all care and related patient conversations for the medical records.
• Accurately performs a variety of basic tests as prescribed by the Ophthalmologist/Optometrist and takes vital signs etc.
• Communicates with patients and completes physician orders regarding prescription medications.
• Ensures the is a proper stock of medical and drug supplies.
• Maintains and cleans instruments, lenses, and room equipment.
• Performs other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the organization.
• Respects and maintains confidentiality.
• Works in a safe, compliant and ethical manner at all times.

Requirements

• Graduation from a technical college program for Ophthalmic Assistant, or equivalent job related experience.
• On the job training available with an online program to work towards obtaining your Ophthalmic Assistant degree if not already obtained.
• Has working knowledge of the needs of the ophthalmologist, optometrist, optician, or 1-3 years related experience in medical field such as caregiver, LPN, CNA or MA preferred.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant preferred.
• Strong customer service & communication skills.
• Epic experience a plus!
• Willing to train candidate motivated to assume responsibility for independent coursework and in clinic training!
