About the role
The Operator USW position in El Dorado, KS is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The union bidding process applies prior to considering external candidates. The position requires 12-hour shifts with a 7 on, 7 off schedule, rotating between nights and days.
Responsibilities
- Maintain pipeline and supporting equipment in compliance with regulations, company work practices, and safety standards.
- Ensure the reliability of equipment and accurate measurement and quality of product transported through the system.
- Develop a positive working relationship with carriers.
- Monitor product movements in to and out of the terminal/station via loading rack, unloading skid, or main line.
- Input information into computer programs and perform daily facility inspections.
- Auxiliary duties include assisting drivers and customers, performing truck rack operations, assisting technicians with maintenance, participating in facility emergency response team, complying with company policies and procedures, attending safety training meetings, and performing other tasks as assigned.
- May include DOT-covered functions such as operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's Degree in Petroleum Tech or related field preferred.
- Three years' experience in a related field preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Regular attendance.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work in stressful conditions and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Proficiency in using a personal computer with the Windows(R) operating system.
- Ability to work on a scheduled and call-out basis.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, tasting/ smelling, near vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and CRT monitors.
- Working conditions include well-lighted, climate-controlled areas, outdoor weather conditions, wet/humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, dust, fumes, gases, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock, prolonged exposure to vibration, high-pitched noises/loud noises, unprotected heights, frequent repetitive motion, and driving a company vehicle.
