Operator - Pouch Bags (2nd Shift)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work effectively and efficiently with teammate to package products to the best of their capability.
  • Maintain packaging machine during the packaging process to identify and correct malfunctions.
  • Adjust machine components and machine film tension and pressure according to size or processing angle of product.
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor.
  • Regulate machine flow, speed, or temperature.
  • Perform metal detector verification to ensure product is free of metal.
  • Complete paperwork which includes downtime, machine log, and batch orders.
  • Absorb and direct team during change over and/or cleaning.
  • Report any safety matters or malfunctions to the line lead person, or Supervisor.
  • Ensure all job functions are performed within required General Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
  • Understand and use production standards, specifications, and advise when producing inefficiently.
  • Keep accurate and legible documentation.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to help troubleshoot of machine problems.
  • Verify that product meets quality standards, while counting and recording finished and rejected packaged items.
  • Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment, such as opening valves or setting guides.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent education.
  • Associate level education preferred.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have mechanical skills to troubleshoot and or make adjustments as necessary to ensure a quality product.
  • The ability to stand on a concrete floor for long period of time.
  • Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to work weekends during peak season.
  • Required to work mandatory overtime when needed.
  • Knowledgeable about GMP’s, allergen training, all GNC safety training, HACCP training, food safety training, and GNC HR policies.
  • Training requirements include Microsoft AX man lift / forklift training.
