Operator - Nights

About the Role

Vitro Automotive Glass is seeking a qualified Line Operator to join our team at our Elkin, NC location. We produce advanced glass products for leading automotive manufacturers, focusing on safety, comfort, and efficiency.

Shift and Pay

• Shift: 3PM - 11PM (hourly non-exempt)
• Rate: $23.24 per hour
• Additional $1.00 shift differential for hours worked from 7PM - 7AM

Responsibilities

• Efficiently utilize equipment and personnel to produce cut, edged, and drilled glass ready for bending per customer requirements.
• Make mechanical changes and adjustments to line equipment, including operating automation equipment like programmable controllers and robots.
• Perform complete tooling changes and necessary programming adjustments for various automotive patterns.
• Plan and address daily production needs, ensuring quality meets customer specifications.
• Conduct size checks, SPC checks, and maintain control charts and process checks.
• Maintain line cleanliness, including proper tool storage and waste management.
• Accurately report and log daily production data, including downtime and rejects.
• Perform routine TPM activities, report maintenance needs, and assist general maintenance mechanics.
• Assign and direct personnel during pattern changes and downtime.
• Provide relief for line personnel in emergency situations and train new operators.
• Report unsafe equipment or conditions and maintain high operational standards.

Qualifications

• High degree of mechanical aptitude.
• Passing score on Select Assessment for Manufacturing test (Production Operator profile).
• Ability to safely operate a fork truck and maintain required license.
• Adequate PC skills for computerized systems.
• Motivated, self-driven, and organized.
• Willingness to assist in other roles as needed.
• Preferred: Basic understanding of automation principles and robotics.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma / GED required.

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Sit or stand for extended periods.
• Push/pull, grip, reach, see, hear, and speak.
• Work in warm and cold conditions.

Requirements

• Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.
• Good attendance record and willingness to work overtime.
• Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Pass pre-employment background check and drug screen test.
• Highly motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal and self-management skills.
• Must be 18 years or older with a High School Diploma or GED.
