The Impact You'll Make

Perform necessary service functions for Mandrel Preparation Operators, such as measuring and replacing lube cones and cleaning lube pots, replacing strings and plastic on reels, determining which mandrel to run, keeping the work area clean and organized, and assisting other operators when needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Required (Basic) Qualifications: High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year manufacturing experience

Job Criteria and Physical Demands

  • Environment and Safety: No large machinery – nothing larger than a reel lift. Surrounded by reels. Little to no forklift traffic. Surrounding machines are very loud and the work, and workspace, is hot. Mandrel bonder puts off heat. Floors are considerably slippery. No PPE for this; best is “oil resistant” work shoes. Burn risk from bonders. Use gloves. There are some pinch points when loading a letoff, clamping mandrel at bonder, etc. Safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes required at all times. Gloves required when moving reels, handling knives.
  • Physical Activity: Entire shift is spent walking or standing. Pushing full reels frequently. Ability to reach, grasp and manipulate.
  • Tools: Scissors and Handheld mandrel cutters, Clamp / pliers, Scraper to take the melted plastic off the bonder, Grinder to remove excess mandrel at the bonded spot, Cone gauges to make sure the correct size cone is used to apply lube, Calculator, O.D. Tape
