AHF Products has a job opportunity for a Lab Operator located in Crossville, TN. This position is responsible for the production functions required by the Lab Department and assists other positions in the department when necessary. This is an on-site role requiring attendance and adherence to scheduled and assigned work hours.
Responsibilities
- Weigh out and load materials, as specified by formula, into the appropriate processing equipment which includes ball mills, Cuccolini, Raffaello, and others.
- Take samples to the lab for testing.
- After material is milled, discharge it into the correct container for the size made, including different sized barrels or one of the holding tanks.
- Blend materials and add corrections, as directed by the Lab.
- Take materials, as needed, to the Deco/Glaze lines and return when required.
- Discharge materials from holding tanks.
- Carry/lift bags of materials up to 100 lbs.
- Operate forklift or use either electric or manual pallet jack for moving materials.
- Clean floors, decks, sieves, ball mills, etc.
- Load/unload trailers of material and place in proper locations.
- Take monthly raw material inventory.
- Put up returned barrels of material, as needed, and record information on tickets.
- Dump hoppers of fired tile.
- Clean ditches as needed.
- Perform the duties of a Paste/Glaze Prep Materials Handler when required.
- Maintain accurate paperwork.
- Use Gemba board to effectively communicate issues.
- Report any issues to the next shift.
- Recognize issues with production and correct or notify appropriate employees.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, Supervisors, and other Departments.
- Work on Kaizen for continuous improvement.
- Follow safety guidelines and company standards, utilizing Personal Protection Equipment as required.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform any other duties that may be required or assigned.

- Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Demands
- Frequent climbing, bending, standing, walking at a brisk pace 8+ hours a day, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional lifting of 80 pounds, either alone or with the assistance of another employee, in conformity with lifting techniques detailed in safety policies and training materials.
- Frequent dexterity with hands for use of tools.
- Frequently, vision must be sufficient to see tools and equipment clearly.
- Frequent hearing with the use of ear protection.
- Frequent ability to tolerate and work at heights.
