Operator I (Shear Operator)

Location: Tulsa, OK, United States (Centergate facility, 5615 S. 129th E. Ave).

About the role

This position is classified as safety-sensitive. Due to the use of heavy machinery, power tools, and exposure to potentially hazardous conditions, the role requires heightened awareness and adherence to all safety protocols. Employees must be able to perform duties in a manner that ensures their own safety and the safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourage action assuring safe behavior; confront unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively.
• Attend, participate, and conduct pre-shift and weekly safety meetings.
• Comply with all Chart policies and procedures including Attendance, Code of Conduct, PPE/Dress Code, and Teamwork.
• Predictably and regularly attend work and be punctual.
• Follow direction or instruction.
• Clock in and out of Time and Attendance, jobs, etc.
• Download programs from Make Parts software and edit parts.
• Work from bill of materials and drawings.
• Set gauges and stops to run automated and manual machinery.
• Troubleshoot and calibrate machinery.
• Analyze prints or instructions for discrepancies.
• Cross-train in other areas/departments as needed.
• Read, analyze, understand, and demonstrate knowledge of Chart Quality Systems including travelers, work instructions, In-Process Inspection Check Lists, etc.
• Conduct yourself in a considerate, professional, cooperative, and helpful manner toward fellow employees, customers, vendors, and visitors.
• Brake all sheet metal to required dimensions and shapes.
• Transport material to brake table and finished product to proper area for kitting and storage.

• Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
• Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist to a considerable degree.
• Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
• Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
• Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
• Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
• Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks or moving from work side to another.
• Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force.
• Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects.

• Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers.
• Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
• Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, including conveying detailed or important instructions.
• Hearing: Perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels to receive detailed information through oral communication.
• Repetitive motion: Substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Physical Requirements

• Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Exert up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
• Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly.

Visual Acuity

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned and inspect work.

Environmental Conditions

• Indoor and outdoor environmental conditions; activities occur inside and outside.
• Extreme heat: temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
• Noise: sufficient to cause the worker to shout to be heard above ambient noise level.
• Vibration to the extremities or whole body.
• Hazards: proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, or exposure to chemicals.
• Atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation affecting the respiratory system or skin.
• Small spaces: may be required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior manufacturing experience.
• Prior CNC experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and tape measures.
