Operator (Expansion) 3rd shift

About the role

Expands, cuts, inspects, bags, and tags FEP, PFA, and other plastic tubing. Includes coiling of input, clamping, taping, cutting, inspecting, bagging, tagging, straightening, labeling, and preparing orders for shipping. Operates heat shrink equipment, packs heat shrink dies in oven, and sets up equipment to meet order specifications. Shrinks tubing over customer-supplied mandrels. Maintains accurate records and keeps a clean, safe workplace while observing all safety rules and regulations. Performs occasional utility work.

Responsibilities

• Coiling of input tubing
• Clamping, taping, cutting, inspecting, bagging, tagging, and straightening tubing
• Labeling and preparing orders for shipping
• Packing heat shrink dies in oven and setting up heat shrink equipment to meet order specifications
• Shrinking tubing over customer-supplied mandrels
• Keeping accurate records and maintaining a clean, safe workplace
• Observing all safety rules and regulations
• Performing occasional utility work

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds periodically to a height of 36 inches
• Reaching at work level (36 inches)
• Standing within a 30-foot by 36-inch area with very little time to sit down
• Constant walking with some stationary standing
• Legible writing using pens to fill in worksheet data
• Ability to perform inspection functions such as visual inspections to detect cosmetic defects and color differentiation of products
• Thorough knowledge of standard and good sense practices
• Ability to carry out oral and written instructions and adapt to different situations
• Physical condition to stand and walk for long periods
• Any combination of experience enabling sound judgments and decisions
• Basic mathematics knowledge
• Reliable attendance and punctuality

Skills

• Use of safety equipment: heat gloves, safety glasses, and protective gear as needed
• Cleaning using brooms, mops, rags, and all-purpose cleaners to maintain the work area
• Ability to manipulate data using various software packages
• Clear communication skills
• Desire and ability to learn a variety of skills and contribute to continuous improvement

Work environment

Work involves exposure to solvents such as naphtha, acetone, and alcohol; safety equipment and rules must be used. Employees are required to wear a Zeus uniform after the probationary period.
