Operator (Dayton, OH)

Responsible for daily work at sites in and around Ohio, including arranging travel and ensuring on‑time start of work. The role involves operating equipment—primarily backhoes—to excavate all types of plumbing trenches, reading and interpreting blueprints, communicating effectively with all job‑site personnel and sub‑contractors, and representing TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Operate various equipment, primarily a backhoe, safely and in compliance with OSHA and TP Mechanical Contractors standards.
• Excavate all types of plumbing trenches.
• Perform regular maintenance on equipment, including greasing and checking fluids.
• Assist with equipment installation on jobs.
• Move equipment from job to job.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 4 years experience operating a backhoe in field plumbing operations.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.
• Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.
• Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
• Basic math skills.
• Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent; trade school education a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Eyesight correctable to 20/50.
• Able to perform shift work.
• Capable of lifting objects weighing up to 60 lb.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Special Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery.
• OSHA 10 certification for the construction industry.
