About the Role
Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, you will independently operate all milling and kiln systems simultaneously. Demonstrated competence in operating both kilns is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist in any Cement Plant repair as directed, including refractory and repair of kiln systems
- Read and interpret instrument loop diagrams, sketches, and manufacturer's specifications
- Perform simple chemical and physical control tests and prepare clear written reports on all phases of operations
- Start up and shut down the plant, and make minor repairs and adjustments to electrical equipment
- Operate console equipment including CRTs, communication equipment, recorders, printers, keyboards, and other control instruments used in the Cement Plant
- Understand principles of electrical and pneumatic instrumentation to make necessary adjustments and minor repairs
- Diagnose mechanical problems quickly and take necessary action, including emergency repairs
- Maintain equipment and working areas clean, orderly, and safe
- Comply with company safety rules and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds (hardhat, safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, back support belts, gloves, respirators, etc.)
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 2 years in a similar industry preferred
- Ability to accurately read and use a ruler/tape measure
Skills
- Mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, area, and volume
- Reasoning skills: recognize hazardous situations, understand supervisor instructions, and apply common sense
Working Conditions
- Occasional exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and outdoor work
- Must wear protective equipment at all times on location
Physical Requirements
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Job involves sitting most of the time but also requires walking or standing for brief periods
- Regularly required to talk and hear to communicate with employees/visitors
