What You Will Be Doing
The Compressor Station Operator is a multi-skilled position responsible for the operation and maintenance of gathering system compressor stations. Key responsibilities include:
- Daily documentation of equipment
- Performing Preventive Maintenance (PM)
- Housekeeping
- Maximizing throughput
- Performing minor maintenance on engines, compressors, separators, generators, flares, and cooling fans
- Performing line locates in and around the compressor station
- Working with craft personnel to resolve equipment/system problems
- Operating compressor stations which may include 3612 Caterpillar engines driving aerial compressors or centrifugal compressors totaling close to 200,000 hp
- Identifying and responding to emergency situations
- Maintaining and adjusting equipment to maintain optimal availability and efficiency
- Using various types of equipment including 3612 Caterpillar engines driving aerial compressors; solar gas turbines; solar gensets; and electric motor-driven centrifugal compressors
What Your Background Should Look Like (Minimum Qualifications)
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Technical certification or equivalent training in a mechanical environment or energy-related field preferred
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Minimum of 3 years stable work history, preferably in the energy industry and/or technical training in the areas of mechanical and/or electrical fields
- Strong commitment to personal and job safety
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair all types of mechanical equipment
- Ability to read prints, drawings, and technical manuals and prepare technical reports
- Dexterity in using tools and equipment
- Basic mathematical calculations and proficiency in MS Office applications including spreadsheets and word processing
- Good verbal/written communication skills, decision-making skills, and strong work ethic
- Able to maintain and promote good working relationships within a team environment
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Able to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties, and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions
- Willingness to work overtime and handle call-outs and relocation to within 1 hour response time of job assignment
- Works indoors and outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment
- Capable of performing physical tasks such as climbing, bending, stooping, moving between levels, lifting up to 50 lbs., transporting loads up to 75 lbs., applying up to 100 foot pounds of torque, getting in and out of vehicles, riding over rough roads, wearing special safety equipment, and using emergency breathing apparatus or protective equipment
- Able to interface with landowners, corporate contacts, and other field personnel
