About the role

Schedules appointments for patients. Receives all phone calls and first person of contact. Operates telephone switchboard to route, receive and place calls for dental assistance.

Responsibilities

• Directs incoming calls to department heads.
• Provides general information on services provided to patients.
• Takes messages for all employees in a timely manner.
• Uses a six-line phone operation to maintain call flows and efficiency.
• Highly organized and has attention to detail with important information.
• Has advanced phone techniques for patient service.
• Makes patient appointments and reminder appointments for dental patients.
• Schedules appointments for patients and specialty care.
• Performs receptionist and/or routine clerical duties such as filling out forms, answering telephones, or filing.
• Calm down nervous and frustrated patients when upset.
• Handles other duties as requested by the Dental staff or Clinic Manager.
• Handles outbound calls to book appointments, reminders, retention, reschedule, cancel, or as directed by Manager.
• Receives inbound calls and makes outbound calls.
• Knows the organizational culture, department structure and environment.

Qualifications

• Education: (Preferred) High School or Equivalent
• Experience: (Required) One year experience operating a multi-line telephone or switch board system.
• Bilingual.
• Good organizational skills.
