Operator

Vitro operates glass manufacturing plants, fabrication facilities, and distribution centers worldwide focused on automotive glass production.

About the role

12-hour shift (hourly non-exempt) on the 7PM – 7AM schedule.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently utilize all equipment and personnel to produce cut, edged, and drilled glass ready to bend per customer requirements.
• Make mechanical changes and adjustments to line equipment and operate automation equipment, including programmable controllers and robots.
• Perform complete tooling changes for various automotive patterns, including necessary programming and equipment set-up changes for controllers and robots.
• Plan and address daily production needs.
• Conduct size checks of cut-not-tempered glass to ensure quality production meets customer specifications.
• Perform SPC checks, maintain control charts, and complete all required process checks.
• Maintain line cleanliness, including proper tool storage, emptying trash, and managing trash hoppers.
• Accurately report and log daily production information (cutting, edging, downtime, rejects, etc.) into appropriate forms or databases.
• Perform routine TPM activities, report maintenance needs, and assist maintenance mechanics when necessary.
• Assign and direct personnel during pattern changes and short downtime periods.
• Provide relief for line personnel in emergency situations.
• Train new operators as necessary.
• Report all unsafe equipment and/or conditions.
• Maintain operations at the highest standards set by Vitro’s customers, production, and quality departments.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must attain a passing score on the Select Assessment for Manufacturing test (Production Operator profile).
• Must safely operate a fork truck and maintain the required license.
• Adequate PC skills to work with computerized systems.
• Basic understanding of automation, automated equipment, and robotics (preferred).
• Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.
• Good attendance history and willingness to work overtime.
• Strong interpersonal, self-management, and communication skills (written and oral).
• Highly motivated and able to work independently.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Physical Requirements

• Performs duties within normal manufacturing environmental conditions (warm and cold).
• Must lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must sit or stand for extended periods.
• Must push/pull, grip to use hand tools, reach, see, hear, and speak.
• Must follow all PPE requirements and posted security procedures.

Pay

Starting wage: $23.24 per hour. $1.00 shift differential pay for any hours worked from 7PM – 7AM. Paid weekly on Fridays via direct deposit.
