Operator Apprentice 1

About the role

Mill Operator Trainee/Utility positions are entry-level roles with potential for advancement into more skilled positions. This role involves operating machinery, forklifts, or other equipment as directed by supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Operate machine centers and related equipment at assigned areas efficiently and productively.
• Adhere to quality specifications for assigned areas and equipment.
• Support mill safety policies and procedures.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Age 18 or older
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as walking, standing, sitting, climbing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in elevated areas and tight spaces
• Knowledge of and adherence to West Fraser's safety policies and procedures
• Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred

Qualifications

• Ability to perform tasks in accordance with West Fraser safety policies and procedures, including conducting safety observations.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and follow safe work procedures.
• Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
