Position Summary The Operator 3, CNC is an advanced-level machinist responsible for leading complex machining operations, supporting CNC programming activities, and ensuring the final quality of manufactured components. This role serves as the technical expert and leader within the machining department, helping to optimize production processes, troubleshoot advanced machining issues, train, and mentor other operators. Reporting to the Supervisor, Production, this position requires strong problem-solving skills, deep machining knowledge, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP, CAD/CAM programsProficiently perform fundamentals of Operator 1, CNC and Operator 2, CNCProgram CNC machines or modify existing programsLead machine setups for complex parts and production runsTroubleshoot machining, tooling, and program issuesEnsure final product quality and adherence to specificationsReview inspection data and resolve quality concernsTrain and mentor Operator 1 &2, CNC team membersOptimize cycle times, tooling strategies, and production processesSupport new product development and prototype machiningAssist with workflow coordinationFollow all safety procedures and use appropriate PPEMaintain clean and organized work areaCommunicate promptly to supervisor of any machine issues or quality concerns Position Qualifications EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES High school diploma, GED or equivalency, required. Technical training or advanced experience in CNC operations, required. Experience And Competencies Experience in CNC programming mills and lathes (e.g., ELA/ISO, Mazatrol, or equivalent)Strong troubleshooting and process improvement capabilityAbility to interpret complex engineering drawingsDemonstrated advanced CNC machining experience in similar industryDemonstrated knowledge of CNC machine controls, offsets and toolingStrong mechanical aptitude and interest in how products work.Proven attention to detail and commitment to quality.Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, safety, and professional communication.Ability to maintain positive and respectful interactions with team members, customers, and vendors.Willingness to work extended hours during peak periods to meet operational demands. This position requires substantial time working in a manufacturing environment. Team members may be exposed to varying temperatures and moderate noise levels. May be occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, or airborne particles. Working extended and flexible hours may be requested occasionally.
