Operations Worker
Position Summary
Responsible for assisting in the operations and maintenance of a large wastewater facility.
Minimum Requirements
- High School/Vocational School Diploma or equivalency certificate.
- Satisfactory completion of the Introduction to Wastewater course is required during the first year of employment.
- A valid New Jersey Driver's License preferred but not required.
- Must be available for emergencies and job assignments on a 24-hour basis.
- Must demonstrate the ability to learn and retain technical information.
- Mechanical and/or problem-solving aptitude as well as computer literacy is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained.
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs, and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping and handling heavy objects.
- Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks, as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), in compliance with PVSC's Facial Hair Grooming Policy.
Working Conditions
Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.
Pay
The expected base pay range is $41,315 to $64,851. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
