About the role
The role involves managing or performing work associated with converting raw materials and components into finished goods. Duties include assembling finished components, setting up and operating machine tools, surface finishing, packaging, and selecting products from inventory.
Responsibilities
- Selects products from inventory and assembles, packs, and transports to staging areas for shipment.
- Works in freezer, cooler, and dry warehouse environments, maintaining productivity standards.
- Follows essential selection pick paths, labels products correctly, stages them on pallets, and records necessary item information into WMS or inventory systems.
- Maintains accurate records of shortages and reports them to supervisors.
- Stacks products on pallets with heavier items on the bottom, ensuring they are delivered securely.
- Delivers stacked pallets to assigned areas on loading docks, ensuring accurate staging and systematic loading.
- Safely secures pallets with shrink wrap for delivery.
- Works with immediate supervisors to minimize warehouse shrinkage and general inventory control.
- Maintains the neatness and cleanliness of the work area, accuracy of warehouse locations, and travel aisles, loading bays, and docks.
- Reports any unfixable/unsafe issues immediately to supervisors.
- Observes and enforces all safety rules to reduce accidents and injuries.
- Operates appropriate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, in a safe and orderly manner.
- Ensures that material handling equipment is maintained and clean, reporting repair or service needs to supervisors.
- Uses warehouse computers and equipment in a safe and professional manner.
- Understands and complies with all applicable company policies and laws.
- Cross-trains in other warehouse functions and performs other warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous warehouse experience and/or training preferred.
- Material Handling Equipment certification preferred; reach truck experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
