Key Responsibilities

  • Facility Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems within training limits. Conduct facility inspections, assist with classroom and office setup, and maintain tools and supplies.
  • Custodial Operations: Maintain cleanliness in classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas. Perform routine and deep cleaning, including floor care, sanitation, and waste removal. Safely operate custodial equipment.
  • Grounds and Outdoor Maintenance: Maintain campus grounds by mowing, trimming, edging, and removing debris. Inspect outdoor areas for safety concerns and assist with seasonal tasks, including storm cleanup and weather preparation.
  • Transportation Support: Assist with inspections, preparation, and vehicle cleanliness. Support transportation logistics for routes, field trips, and events, and operate vehicles when licensed and assigned.
  • Safety and Security Support: Help maintain a safe campus by monitoring facilities, reporting concerns, supporting safety procedures and drills, and maintaining emergency equipment.
  • Event Operations: Assist with setup and breakdown for school events, athletics, and activities. Prepare event spaces and support traffic flow, parking, and crowd management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid North Carolina driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • The ability to pass required background checks and employment screenings
  • The ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • The ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • A basic familiarity with tools, equipment, and facility operations
  • Experience in facility maintenance, custodial services, groundskeeping, or building operations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skilled trade experience (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, construction, or mechanical systems)
  • Experience working in school, institutional, or campus environments
  • CDL with school bus/passenger endorsement, or willingness to obtain
  • Training related to facilities management, safety, or operational services
