About the Role
Under the guidance of the Operation Manager and/or Branch Manager, this role holds overall accountability and responsibility for the daily production of the loan processing team. The position assists with processing loan files and underwriting mortgage loans, while directing and coordinating daily production of operations staff to ensure timely and accurate closings.
Responsibilities
- Daily monitoring of reports to ensure loan files move through the process in accordance with company expectations.
- Process loan files as needed to support the branch and ensure all loans close on time.
- Assist Operations Manager with underwriting loan files as needed.
- Monitor daily production of processing staff.
- Mentor and educate loan processors to ensure their development.
- Prepare and review reports for appropriate company representatives.
- Assist with training procedures for existing and new employees.
- Assist with special projects as requested and perform additional duties as required.
- Obtain underwriting authority within 120 days of starting the position (training will be provided).
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of Senior Loan Processing experience.
- Extensive hands-on knowledge of mortgage loan processing, DU, LP, and agency guidelines.
Skills
- Persuasive attitude with outstanding leadership and organizational skills; detail-oriented aptitude.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and evaluate information relative to lender requirements and underwriting guidelines.
- Customer-service oriented with the ability to handle difficult situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for high interaction with a variety of people inside and outside the organization.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with the ability to coordinate several major activities simultaneously.
- Previous underwriting experience is a plus.
