Operations Team Lead - Akins Ford Arena/The Classic Center

About the Role

We're looking for an Operations Team Lead to join our team and play a key role in keeping our venue event-ready, safe, and running smoothly. From transforming spaces and directing event setups to supporting staff and maintaining facility standards, you'll be at the center of what makes every event a success. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a blend of leadership, physical work, and variety. No two days are exactly the same.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Operations staff during assigned shifts
• Ensure team members have the tools, information, and support needed to execute operational plans
• Coordinate and participate in event setups and strikes, including:
  • Ice cover installation and removal
  • Dasher boards and hockey glass
  • Staging
  • Tables and chairs
  • Venue conversions and special event setups
• Maintain high standards for facility readiness, cleanliness, and safety
• Train employees on operational procedures, equipment use, policies, and best practices
• Serve as the primary point of contact for hourly staff and third-party personnel during events and shifts
• Monitor inventory levels of equipment, parts, hardware, and operational supplies
• Assist with annual equipment inventories
• Support management with various operational projects and assignments

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in a similar role within an arena, convention center, stadium, theater, or comparable venue preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as needed
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to obtain a forklift certification
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
• A positive attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed

Physical Requirements

• Standing and walking for extended periods
• Frequent lifting and moving of items up to 50 pounds
• Bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and other physical activities associated with facility operations and event setups
• Ability to work safely in a dynamic event environment
