About the role

As the Operations Supervisor, you will lead a team focusing on operational excellence in the distribution and processing of US currency using complex, authentication, and piece sorting technology. You will be responsible for developing a team that is accountable for driving operational excellence in a fast paced and highly regulated environment. Our ideal candidate for this role is a proven operations and people leader who is an excellent communicator, sets a high bar for themself, and has a strong compliance focus. Experience in military, manufacturing, automotive, biotech, electronics, energy, machinery, defense/aerospace, medical, cosmetics, production, or distribution environments are also desired.

Location & schedule

Federal Reserve Bank – Phoenix office (100% on-site) — 1550 N 47th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85043.
Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Applicants must have flexibility with start/end times to meet operational needs.

What you'll do

  • Supervise, assign, and direct distribution and processing activities by optimizing staff resources, inventory levels, and machine utilization strategies to meet customer deadlines while achieving internal performance metrics (quality, cost, efficiency and effectiveness).
  • Provide input on the establishment of short and long-term goals for the team.
  • Proactively monitor team performance to assess progress against goals.
  • Create, communicate, and maintain quality control policies and work procedures to enable adherence to risk management requirements.
  • Complete risk assessments to identify root causes and develop corrective action plans.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop high performing team members for career progression.
  • Conduct staff training on system equipment, hardware and software upgrades, compliance requirements, and existing/new standard department procedures.
  • Identify and implement solutions that optimize daily production opportunities, address risk management weaknesses, maximize staff resources, and enhance employee-focused initiatives that drive engagement and growth.
  • Research, clarify, and resolve routine to complex operational problems across multiple work processes that include but not limited to machine issues, inventory management, customer transactions, accounting and settlement activity.
  • Collaborate with peers, management, and business partners to develop and deliver operational solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired experience & traits

  • Typically requires 3+ years of relevant cash or business work experience
  • 1+ years of experience in leading teams
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Proven ability to lead and develop team members in meeting goals and objectives
  • Experience supervising teams in production, manufacturing, or supply chain distribution environments
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate teams, build positive relationships, collaborate effectively, and foster a productive work environment
  • Proven ability to adapt to evolving situations, pivot strategies when needed, and provide sound recommendations in ambiguous or uncharted circumstances
  • Strong teamwork and customer service orientation
  • Strong time management and organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Use critical thinking to assess situations, make appropriate decisions in a timely manner, and communicate those decisions to impacted stakeholders
  • Demonstrate active listening skills with the ability to solve problems and provide feedback in a variety of situations
  • Possess strong analytical skills with experience in using data to assess emerging trends and arrive at solutions
  • Possess risk management or procedural compliance experience
  • Proven ability to collaborate, build relationships, and influence individuals at varying all levels internally and externally
  • Experience in the development and implementation of new procedures and policies
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint, and PowerPoint

Pay

Base Salary Range: Min: $66,100 – Mid: $85,700 – Max: $105,600 (Location: Phoenix, AZ). Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
