Operations Supervisor

Job Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for monitoring plant systems, responding to alarms, directing team members, executing plant shut-down/start-up procedures, and ensuring safe and efficient operation. Key responsibilities include reporting upset conditions, communicating plant status, operating control panels, performing emergency operations, providing direction to operators, and communicating plant availability.

Job Functions

• Report upset conditions or other anomalies to the Operations Manager and Owners.
• Make entries in the Operating Log and issue Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) as required.
• Communicate with Springdale and BETM for plant dispatch orders and requests from PJM.
• Operate control panels to regulate load on HRSG and turbines, maintain steam parameters, and ensure efficient combustion.
• Perform emergency operations and provide direction to operators to effect changes in plant conditions.
• Operate from established procedures under general directions and minimum supervision.
• Communicate plants' daily availability and risks to generation during morning production meetings.
• Ensure an optimum cost-benefit ratio for owners.
• Provide work direction and performance oversight to OptTechs.
• Give direction to maintenance personnel on emergent plant operations.

Education And Experience

• Minimum of two years of experience as an Assistant Plant Operator or equivalent position in an operating or generating plant.
• Associate Degree in a technical field preferred.
• Must successfully complete the Operations Supervisor qualification card and Board Review.

Work Environment

• Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high voltage protective equipment, and other equipment must be worn.
• Working extended working hours, varied shifts, 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call status may be required.
• Includes working indoors and outdoors.
• Physical requirements include: possibility of working on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds.
• Includes working in elevated areas, confined spaces, and in extreme heat and cold conditions.
