Operations Supervisor - 2nd Shift
Purpose/Scope
Tennant Company Plant I is seeking an Operations Supervisor - 2nd shift to supervise moderately skilled to skilled employees and operations in one or more production functions. This position manages production schedules, plans work, assigns work, and trains employees. The supervisor also has authority for hiring, termination, discipline, and performance decisions. They ensure product quality standards are maintained and coordinate with other departments to meet deadlines.
General Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to manage, coach, and direct assigned teams to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost metrics
- Manage team performance through evaluations, development, training, and promotions
- Interview and select new talent
- Hold team accountable through coaching and discipline
- Motivate and reinforce good behavior through timely recognition
- Communicate and administer company and department policies, work practices, and procedures in an effective manner
- Identify, troubleshoot, and remove barriers to success by using a data-driven problem-solving approach to make fact-based decisions
- Support, implement, and sustain continuous improvement initiatives
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3+ years of applicable job experience (e.g., production, distribution, logistics)
- Previous leadership/supervision experience
- Experience with Lean System practices across multiple processes
- Track record of ensuring equipment is properly maintained and preventative maintenance is performed in a timely manner
- Experience in decision-making and exercising sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals

- Coach and mentor direct reports

- Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required, and use good judgment in varied situations
- Able to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information
- Ability to successfully handle and manage change
- Build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally; collaborating well cross-functionally
- Work within Microsoft Office Suite
- Plans and holds the team accountable to daily tasks and departmental strategic goals
- Appropriately receive constructive feedback from team members and leadership to continuously improve professionally
- Effective time management
Required Physical Demands
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds
Total Compensation
Total compensation includes base salary and benefits. Tennant Company reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity. The salary range reflects both entry into the role and future growth.
